Sam and Megan Nixon
Megan Nixon is our director. She and her husband, Sam, met at the University of Oregon
where they were both finishing up their degrees in education.
Sam taught in both public and private school settings during many
of their 23 years of marriage, while Megan had the privilege of staying
home with their four children. Through the years she kept her teaching certificate current
by taking college courses in education.
Though she was trained as an educator, it took years of nudges and
prompts from the Lord before she finally surrendered to give home
education a try. Now
she is enthusiastically sold out on home school as an excellent method
to draw our children into relationship with Jesus and train them to
impact their world according to His will.
She believes that it is a very high calling when God asks someone
to educate his or her children at home.
She sees that her teaching certificate was a handicap in many
ways because it tempted her to rely on education.
Now she sees that relying on a deep relationship with Jesus is
the only way to get the ability to really train a child in the way
he/she should go.
She loves being involved with home school families all over Washington
County as she does annual achievement testing and works with us at
Family School and Connect High. She
counts it a privilege to continue to be home with her children and is
very grateful to Sam for supporting her in this rewarding ministry.
