OUR MISSION
The
Home School Connection seeks to provide a setting for home schooling
families to come together and establish connections with one another in
order to draw strength, encouragement and a fresh love of learning.
Our foremost aim is to put God first in all that we do so that His love
will be manifest within and through us.
FAMILY SCHOOL
We
conduct three 8-week sessions (Fall, Winter, Spring.) The first week is
Kick-Off. AT Kick Off we come together and talk through the details of
the upcoming term. Then come 6 weeks of classes
taught by co-op parents and guest teachers. (These are not core
subject classes but are rather meant to supplement or enrich the basics
you are covering at home.) The final week is an outreach time when we
take our talents and some cookies to a nearby retirement home.
Classes begin at 11:00 a.m. and finish at 2:45.
There is a “No Drop Off” rule that will be enforced.
This is not a drop off situation.
In the case of emergencies or extenuating circumstances, you may
make arrangements with another parent to “adopt” your school age
children for the day at the co-op. Involvement in the Family School is
open to children age 5 by September 1 of the current school year.
Although we are a Christian organization you do not have to hold this
same faith to be a member. Families pay a fee of $50.00 for the first
two participating students and an additional $10 for every participating
student after the first two, per term, and fulfill at least two
volunteer jobs each term.
CONNECT HIGH
Connect
High runs from September until June offering an array of high school
core classes. We
are basing our class offerings on a Classical approach and plan to
include Latin, lab sciences, writing, logic, rhetoric, Great Books and
history, as well as a variety of electives.
The registration fee is $150 per student for the school year and
$100 – $300 per credit, depending on the class.
Parents purchase necessary curriculum and materials.
Work study options may be available in exchange for some tuition.
Connect High has a strong emphasis on developing Godly character,
self-governing and servant-leader qualities in our children.
We hold a high standard of modesty and maintaining an atmosphere
of brother/sister relationships without the premature romance so
prevalent in society today.
HOME SCHOOL
REVIEW
At
the end of each session we have an evening gathering where the children
can display their work from home or Family School classes, and present
speeches, dances, dramas, etc., they have learned in the co-op. This is an excellent time to invite extended family members
or neighbors and friends that are interested in your home schooling or
are considering home schooling themselves in the future.
OUT
DOOR SCHOOL
Early
in June we gather at a nearby state park for several days of camping,
outdoor activities, crafts and relationship building.
